Acknowledgement

NSWMSC acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands and elders, past and present of New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and other lands within the Commonwealth of Australia. It is on traditional lands on which NSW and ACT medical schools are built and on which teaching, learning and research practices occur. As representatives for NSW and ACT medical students, the Council’s position is that all indigenous people, as with all other people, should be treated with respect in the course of students’ and practitioners’ education and vocations.

Beyond the Curriculum

The NSWMSC Beyond the Curriculum Symposium is our newest academic event, designed to help medical students explore important areas of healthcare that may receive limited attention within traditional medical education.

Through a series of engaging short lectures and tutorial-style sessions, students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of complex and evolving topics, including voluntary assisted dying, abortion services, AI in medicine and more.

The symposium brings together experienced clinicians, academics and students for thoughtful, practical and evidence-informed discussions that extend learning beyond the standard curriculum.
