I would love to know more about this so called "safety net" and the specific protections they have in place for vulnerable patients, including children, pensioners, students, those with concession cards and patients with chronic illnesses.

I think it would be a good decision for the future. Why should anything be free? In certain parts of Sydney, doctors charge $70-$110 for a visit, and there is nothing free/bulk billed. This is only likely to affect people in Western Sydney, who could just put $7 aside for a doctor's visit, rather than have 2 cups of coffee!
