While the Government scrapped its plans to cut the Medicare rebate by $20 for short visits to the doctor after a fierce backlash by doctors and the community, there is still a proposal for a $5 rebate cut for most GP services from July 1. The Australian Medical Association is convening forums across the country to allow for effective stakeholder consultation and feedback.

Medical students are invited and encouraged to attend - the Sydney Forum will be held on Sunday, 8 February 2015, 11.00am to 12.30pm at the University of Western Sydney (Parramatta Campus) - Building EA, Room 18 Ground Floor.

Register your attendance here: https://ama.com.au/survey/ama-forum-general-practice-sydney

The newly appointed 2015 Executive would love to hear from medical students in NSW regarding our advocacy priorities, events (educational/social/academic) or representation plans for the year.

Please get in touch with the 2015 Chair, Neel Gobin ([email protected]) to share your thoughts, or provide us with feedback on the work that we are currently undertaking. As the State's peak representative body for medical students across 7 medical schools, we would like to understand your needs in order to better represent you!

We look forward to hearing from you soon!
