Secretary – Asanka Wijetunga
Year 1, The University of Sydney
What I'm achieving for NSW medical students in 2018:
I would like to help foster connections between medical students and the broader community, promoting medical student involvement in charitable and public health initiatives. I would like to help medical students make a maximal impact on key issues of our time, and find opportunities that allow students to step outside their comfort zones and engage broadly in our diverse global society.
I also aim to facilitate a more integrated medical student experience in NSW by organising
even more events that allow students from all NSW medical schools to form long-term social and professional networks.

What we're achieving for NSW medical students in 2018:
We're going to bring to you an events calendar jam-packed with opportunity, creativity, engagement and a whole lot of fun. In 2018, we want to make the events you all know and love bigger, better and with a few new surprises along the way!
We're bringing you academic events to challenge your concept of leadership in medicine, showcasing the diversity that this degree can provide. We're bringing you social events with even more pizzazz and greater opportunities to socialise with the other 4,500 medical students of NSW. And we're bringing you a Sports Day to prove who truly is the alpha medical school
We want to help you achieve that elusive work-life balance, and we can't wait for you to see
what we have planned!

International Students Officer – Henness Wong
Year 2, The University of Wollongong
What I'm achieving for NSW medical students in 2018:
I believe the success of international medical students during and after their training in Australia can be improved by better connection with each other and the opportunities to grow, personally and professionally.
It is my goal to develop an international student policy with the focus on ethical international medical students recruitment as well as post-graduation training resources. Consultation with various NSW medical student societies will begin in the first quarter of 2018. The council-endorsed product will then provide a blueprint for advocacy action and student engagement.
I also aim to develop a mentorship program for the international delegates at the annual
Leadership in Medicine Symposium to foster personal connection and professional
development within the international students community.
