Actively involved in NSWMSC for the last 2 years, both on Executive and Council levels and witnessed numerous changes, initiatives and projects within the organisation.
Immediate Past President of UWS Medical Society, and member of the UWSMS Executive Committee from 2012 to 2014.
Your role within NSWMSC
Coordinate state-level advocacy by working closely with the 7 Medical Societies, proactive engagement with relevant bodies and attending regular meetings to ensure that NSW medical students are represented appropriately on a state-wide basis.
What you hope to achieve within NSWMSC in 2015
Working closely with, and supporting members of my team in order to:
- Build new relationships with key stakeholders such as HETI and NSW Health
- Strengthen the professional image of NSWMSC, working closely with the Medical Deans and our Council members from 7 medical schools
- Come up with new initiatives such as a membership database, with the possibility of sending at least 2 yearly publications & updates to our members
- Improve our events with more leadership/up-skilling seminars for members as well as offer networking opportunities and connect specific year groups
- Consolidate our relationship with current sponsors and seeking new partners to support our growth and new initiatives
What you are passionate about/your hobbies & interests
I enjoy organisational involvement, travelling, sleep-ins and up-skilling opportunities. Passionate about medico-politics and medical education.

To improve communication and engagement with students, medical societies, AMA, AMSA and HETI to ensure NSWMSC effectively represents and advocates for all 4000 medical students within NSW.

This year, I hope to improve the transparency of our investments and expenditure to our members, whilst aiding in the up-skilling of current and future members. I plan on making financial changes that will serve to ensure that NSWMSC maintains as the peak representative body for Medical Students in NSW.

The life of the party! Running awesome social and academic events for students around NSW. As a medical student, we have a reputation of being the smartest and partying the hardest. I am here to make sure that this year’s social and academic events will let us live up to that expectation.
What you hope to achieve within NSWMSC in 2015
Making sure that our events are the biggest, boldest and better(est?) in NSW. I am hoping to make sure that medical students around NSW, both metropolitan and regional have a chance to interact, learn from each other and party it up.
What you are passionate about/your hobbies & interests
Eating, drinking coffee early in the morning and watching unsustainable amounts of TV shows (and yes, this includes reality TV shows).

Public Relations Officer - Chris Lemon

- Diverse local leadership and public relations experience through work with Notre Dame MedSoc Executives and Special Interest Groups, policy and publications.
- Broad state and national leadership and public relations involvement. through representing medical student perspectives at NSWMSC council, AMSA NLDS and GlobalEx and writing for AMSA on GHC 2014.
- Experience in liaising with professionals and organisations, especially in areas such as using technology for health communication and student issues.
What you hope to achieve within NSWMSC in 2015
- Continuing to facilitate and strengthen strong relationships between the NSW MSC and its members with all MedSocs, other state medical student organisations, AMSA, Medical Deans, NSW Health, HETI and AMA NSW.
- Further build the NSWMSC’s public profile by helping to empower MedSoc representatives to run workshops on issues pertinent to NSW medical students such as advocacy in vocational issues and medical student well-being maintenance strategies.
- Help enhance medical students’ engagement with the vision and methods of the NSWMSC through diverse in-person and online communication methods.

IT Officer - Rafael Ekmejian

Your role within NSWMSC
To oversee the NSWMSC website and social media page including updating the website with relevant and current content. To ensure the Executive and Council email accounts are functioning well. To work with the Public Relations Officer to design NSWMSC promotional material.
